Dr. Hoek, his wife, Robin, and daughter, Karen, are working with Pupz N Palz by fostering a beautiful female, purebred cocker spaniel named Marley. She is living with the family and their other 3 dogs. Marley loves to play with their 4 year old bernadoodle, Dizzy and is very glad to be out of the shelter.
Marley is going to be a wonderful companion, with a little bit of work. She is a typical jumpy, mouthy pup, but it is already improving and will resolve once she's out of the puppy phase. She is scared of new people and needs slow introductions, but even that is improving. When seeing new people, she barks and backs away because she is scared. Once she is comfortable with someone, she is very loving and playful. Playing fetch and getting belly rubs are her favorite activities. She is good around other dogs but would do best with other dogs around her age and activity level. She seems fine with cats and is potty trained to a doggie door. Marley has learned to go to her area during feeding time and wait for her food bowl without bothering the other dogs until everyone is done eating. She will need regular grooming, brushing, and ear cleaning (floppy ears are prone to infections) which she doesn't mind as much as she used to. No young children should be in the household. She did need to be muzzled at the vet briefly just to be extra cautious while the vet (who Marley had never met before) was looking in her ears. We have started grooming her to try and get her use to the shaver noise. Then we give her a good bath and clean her ears. She gives us no problems and even at times will play with the water! Marley is very smart. She can sit, shake and now we are working on her jumping through a hula hoop!! She loves to snuggle and can be a little rag doll when she's sleepy.
If you are interested in adopting her, check out the Pups N Palz Facebook page using the link below for an adoption application or to set up a meeting! |
