Dr. Allen D. Hoek
Dr. Hoek grew up locally and graduated from Ripon Christian High School. He attended Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan and graduated in 1983. From there he attended the School of Optometry at UC Berkeley receiving his second Bachelor of Science with Honors in 1985 and his Doctoral degree in 1987.
Dr. Hoek began his career by moving his family to Sonora and joining a large Optometric practice. He also began assisting the Ophthalmologists at Stanislaus Eye Surgery in Modesto a position he still holds. After 4 years, Dr. Hoek and his wife decided to pursue moving to Ripon. He opened his practice in Ripon on January 2, 1992. In October of 1995, the practice moved to its current location on the corner of Main St. and Wilma Ave. |
Dr. Hoek has always strived to be at the top of his profession. He has long been Board Certified to treat most Eye Diseases. In 2009, he became State Board Certified to treat Glaucoma, at that time accomplished by only a small percentage of established optometrists in California. Dr. Hoek is an active member of Immanuel Christian Reformed Church. He has been an active member of the Lions Club since 1988. He is also the President of the local Lions Sight Conservation Association. This is the board that operates the Lions Eyemobile. He has been actively serving that project since 1989. He is also a member of the American (AOA), California (COA) and San Joaquin Optometric Associations.
